Butterfly Weed

This plant was quite deservedly the Perennial of the Year in 2017. It boasts bright orange flowers that form a magnificent display once well-established.  It acts as both a host plant for the much beloved Monarch butterfly, as well as a highly desirable source of nectar.  Unlike many other milkweeds, butterfly weed it is a conservative grower and will not spread underground via roots, nor selfseed aggressively.

Plants perform best in full sun and moderate to dry soil. Plant in groupings or place individual plants along bed edges or other prominent areas to enjoy the full effect.  Plants are deer resistant.
