The Chinese Fan Palm is native to China. Chinese fan palms are tough, hardy plants that are great for beginners. It exhibits a persistent leaf base which forms layers of fibrous dead leaves along its trunk (also called a “bootjack”). Commonly used as an ornamental tree in gardens and landscaping because of its fan-shaped fronds. The leaves tend to face towards the ray of light, so it a good idea to rotate the plant occasionally. Prune the plant’s dead leaves at the bottom of the crown.
